Culture

Benewah Medical & Wellness Center has been creative in addressing the multi-cultural considerations of its diverse community and staff. Coeur d’Alene Tribal history, customs and exposure to the Coeur d’Alene language is part of the new employee orientation process. Specific opportunities are offered throughout the year during general staff meetings to learn about our diverse cultural characteristics. The Benewah Medical & Wellness Center recognizes the importance of Native Indian Belief systems and ceremonies and accommodates attendance at Tribal gatherings when appropriate.

Benewah Medical & Wellness Center promotes coordination of clinical staff and Native healers. On occasion travel to neighboring states to access a medicine woman or man is encouraged and accommodated.  A committee reviews this type of consultation in the same positive way that a referral is made to a western medical or mental health provider. The Coeur d’Alene Tribe strives to provide the highest quality professional holistic care to our community and staff

As the health of our community improves, the pride of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe grows.
